Great advice for anybody who has to give a speech. The only addition - a tip that helps me, and I get nervous about making speeches - try to arrive early and meet some of the people who you’re giving the speech to.
I find it easier talking to people I’ve already met and I tend to address the talk to them, who will have distributed themselves around the room so it appears natural.
The other thing is to remember that many people who make a living from public speaking - barristers, actors (even famous ones!) - get very nervous before making a speech so don’t worry if you feel nervous.

This a great set of tips. The one I would add is to make sure you really know your audience. That way you can tailor your speach to those who will be listening. Finally, before you get up to do your speach, scan the audience quickly to size them up. Are they falling asleep bored out of their skulls? You may want to change your presentation a bit to wake them up with a joke or change to more of an interactive format.
