I had to chuckle at Rule 2-- Some of my most enjoyable work has come from places where I didn't think I'd have a chance in Hell. But it really is true-- People are often more willing to work with someone who is excited and ready to learn, than someone who knows it already but is too bored to do. Be honest, show enthusiasm, learn to not repeat mistakes and you will soon prove more valuable than an old, jaded hand who simply goes through the motions. Thanks for this great post! One of my favorite rule breakers (since I am also a cancer survivor) is Lance Armstrong. He was not supposed to be able to make a comeback, let alone win the Tour de France so many times. According to those "in the know" his career was finished. It was his attitude that made all the difference and allowed him to win seven consecutive times AFTER cancer!
